Schule am Pulvermaar

Grundschule Allgemeines

General information

Eight classes are being taught in our elementary school in the current school year. Together with the Realschule plus, we form the "Schule am Pulvermaar" in Gillenfeld - a place where learning, living and growing together go hand in hand. Our primary school pupils can take advantage of the school's all-day program. After lessons, there is a varied program with lunch in the award-winning canteen, learning times, play and exercise phases as well as exciting study groups. This makes school a lively place to learn and live.

Schulhof & Schulgarten

Schoolyard & school garden

Our primary school playground is a place of play, discovery and shared experiences. There are cozy seating areas, a climbing wall, a climbing frame and a slide - everything that makes children's hearts beat faster. The playground was completely renovated in 2022 and officially opened by Pastor Dr. Jonas Weller as part of the big UNESCO school festival on 8 October 2022. Our school garden also invites children to relax, learn and observe nature. Raised beds, a small school pond and shady spots offer a variety of opportunities to actively experience the environment. The garden is regularly used in lessons to gain experience of nature and promote sustainable action.

Library

"Reading is to the mind what gymnastics is to the body." (Joseph Addison)
Being able to read well is enormously important for everyday life and learning. That is why promoting reading is particularly important to us. In our school library, pupils will find many interesting, funny and exciting books on a wide range of topics and from different genres. Non-fiction books on history or science can be borrowed as well as funny comic novels, gripping crime novels or enchanting fantasy novels. Our library also has exciting audio books. Our library is usually open twice a week for borrowing. Pupils in grades 1-6 visit the library at least once a week to borrow books at a fixed time during lessons. However, our library is also used outside of lending times as part of German lessons or other subjects.
